President's Message 2025-2026

Updated: Sep 27

Dear Members,

It is an absolute privilege for us to serve as Co-Presidents of the Ogston Surgical Society this year. Together, we are excited to build on the society’s proud tradition of supporting students with a passion for surgery and to share with you the opportunities that lie ahead for the academic year 2025/2026.

Our committee has already been working hard to design a calendar that is both inspiring and hands-on. This year, you can look forward to the Royal College of Surgeons Key Skills Course that we proudly host every year, a series of Practical Suturing Workshops tailored for all levels of experience — from complete beginners to more advanced practice, the Ogston Conference, and many more exciting events designed to develop your skills and broaden your horizons.

We are delighted to welcome a new year of first-year students into the society, and we hope to spark their interest in surgery early on by providing opportunities to explore the field in an engaging and supportive environment. Just as importantly, we are excited to introduce our new committee, whose enthusiasm and commitment will be key to bringing these events to life and ensuring another successful year for the society.

The year ahead promises not only to strengthen your technical skills but also to encourage curiosity, collaboration, and innovation — all of which are at the heart of surgical practice. We encourage you to make the most of everything the society has to offer: get involved, ask questions, and take every opportunity to challenge yourselves.

We are incredibly grateful to our committee for their dedication, and we look forward to working alongside them and all of you in making this an exciting and rewarding year. Together, we will continue to uphold the Ogston Surgical Society’s reputation as a dynamic and inspiring community for aspiring surgeons.

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Warm regards,

Alicja Lubinska & Eleftheria Karouzaki

Co-Presidents, Ogston Surgical Society
